| ABOUT CAROLINE AND THE SEWING SANCTUARY | ||||||
|
Many people will know Caroline from her La*Di*Da shops in Silver Street and at the top of Broad Street. Caroline feels her new location in the Sewing Sanctuary at the mill provides a studio and workshop where she can design, produce and teach. For anyone with aspirations to use fabrics, she offers the opportunity to use her machines, with her guidance if required. She is also able to offer her own extensive skills in dressmaking and soft furnishings. Caroline comes from an artistic background in Liverpool, learning first on her mother's old treadle machine, making clothes for her dolls and for herself. She has always loved fabrics, and her designs are individual and very special. She trained at the Berkshire School of Art and Design and worked in London, designing jeans for a high end manufacturer, and cocktail and special occasion dresses. She taught dress-making at further education college but prefers the more relaxed atmosphere of her own atelier, getting to know people and helping their creative ideas take shape. |
