The Milling Tour

There is always a volunteer miller on duty in the mill to explain how the watermill and the grindstones work. He can also answer any milling questions you may have. In addition, there are many display and information boards throughout the mill that explain the functions of the various floors of this working flour mill.

The tour also includes our recently installed hydro-electric system, making green electricity for the mill and the National Grid..

The Town Mill's own freshly produced stone-ground whole meal flour is available in the shop. The organic wheat we use in the mill is grown locally in West Dorset at
Tamarisk Farm.

The Town Mill Recipe Book

Book Cover - Recipes

The Town Mill Recipe Book was the first book published by the Town Mill Trust. Initially produced in 2002, it proved to be so popular that a reprint had to be ordered a year later. It was conceived by a group of mill volunteers as a means of showing the wide range of products that can be produced using the flour we make from organic wheat at the mill.

Over the last few years many of the recipes, including breads, cakes, scones and biscuits, have been demonstrated to much acclaim from lots of visitors at various Open Days at the mill.
