Peter has been painting professionally for 15 years and now sells originals and prints through selected galleries in the UK and France and has works in several private collections.
Peter trained in graphic design at Manchester College of Art and Design. After a brief spell in advertising, Peter left to start a design consultancy in London which he ran for 14 years. After a period away from the art world, he returned to painting full time and in 2003 had his first one-man show.
The images Peter mostly paints are a result of two influences: his training in graphic design together with the use of vibrant colours typical of the Mediterranean and Provence which Peter frequently visits.
Peter works mainly in oils and acrylics sometimes applying several layers of paint, scraping, adding texture, then applying more paint and texture to produce an enriched depth of colour.
Peter and his wife returned from living in France in 2010 and the Devon countryside is reflected in some of Peter’s recent work.
