Chris Goodman is a local Devon artist. His acrylic paintings and prints are mainly inspired by the local marine environment but depict other natural forms such as landscapes and botanical subjects. He studied Graphic Design at Newham College, London and the University of Plymouth. Having worked both as a marine scientist and a graphic designer, he is inspired by his past experiences in these fields and also his current proximity to the Devon and Dorset coastlines. His work also includes T towels, coasters and other gift items.
Sue Lewin’s inspiration comes from an interest in geology and a love of nature and travel. The drama of storm features regularly in her work, reflecting patterns of fleeting light movements; it has energy coupled with a soft intensity. This can also be seen by her curious figures of either solitary walkers or group figures that meander like clouds along the beachscape. You want to know what these people are doing so you enquire deeper into her pictures.
Sue’s interpretation of this ammonite laden Dorset coast gives us more than the naturalistic form of landscape; she fills us with a sense of space and time that falls into you, much like her endless eroding cliffs.
Sue undertakes commissions and more of her paintings can be viewed on her web site www.suelewinartist.co.uk
