Statement from Mill Trustees – March 2019
Many rumours have been flying around about what is happening at the Lyme Regis Town Mill and particularly to the Galleries and Arts Communities.
The Trustees remain totally committed to supporting the delivery of ‘the arts’ but this must be in a manner that is financially sustainable.
Changes are afoot and recent meetings with representatives of the Lyme Bay Arts CIC, volunteers, tenants and others have been very positive, and we are now working together to find a constructive way forward. We have had a wide variety of suggestions from people interested in the Mill and its arts programmes. We welcome these suggestions and are keen to find a way to take many of these new suggestions forward; resulting in a more dynamic, reinvigorated Mill experience for our visitors..
In the mean time the galleries will be open as usual in March and April, with high calibre art exhibitions. Following this the Trust is seeking to open the gallery spaces for a short interim period in collaboration with TMA, in its new guise as an independent Community Interest Company, Lyme Bay Arts, whilst long term plans are fully developed.
Please bear with us whilst these various changes are explored and we are delighted that the Mill and its Arts programme have such a strong set of supporters.
