ANDREW HAYDON PHOTOGRPAHY

Open Daily 1030 - 1700

We’re delighted to be welcoming Andrew Haydon to the gallery this autumn with his new exhibition DRIFT. Andrew tells us “in this collection I explore the natural world through the lens of black and white photography considering the quiet relationships between movement, stillness permanence and change. I hope the series invites viewers to pause, to connect with the rhythms and stillness of the natural world. It is less about documenting place and more about capturing feeling.”

After an eighteen-year career in the entertainment business in music artist management, Andrew spent ten years working with the creator of Bob the Builder, producing and monetising children’s television projects including Fifi and the Flowertots, Roary the Racing Car and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, which taught him the significance of capturing the viewers’ attention and framing carefully considered images.

Andrew and his wife moved to West Sussex in 2015 where he turned his attention to his lifelong passion for photography. He was first published in 2016.

In 2018 they relocated to a village near Bridport in West Dorset where he focused on its abundant wildlife and the stunning landscapes that Dorset have to offer. Developing his own style, he enjoys harnessing Dorset’s wonderful light and particularly how it can be interpreted in black and white photography.

In 2023 he was selected as a finalist for the Marshwood Art Awards, the selection panel including Sir Don McCullin and Mike Kus. In the same year he was published in Black and White photography magazine.

In 2021, 22, 23, 24 and April 2025 he held solo exhibitions at both the Malthouse and Courtyard galleries in Lyme Regis and had further exhibitions at the Eype Centre for the Arts, also showing at the Bridport, Dorchester and Ilminster Art Centres.
