Mary Noon
Mary lives and paints in West Dorset. While she is continually inspired by the area’s stunning landscape and coastline, she responds to any environment that captures her attention. Her recent work has explored themes of rust and decay, where she finds unexpected beauty.
Her practice is constantly evolving, and her subject matter is eclectic. Primarily an acrylic painter, Mary also works across a range of media, including cyanotype and collagraph. A love of texture lies at the heart of her work, inviting the viewer to step closer and explore the detail within each piece.
Mary holds an annual exhibition at the Malthouse in Lyme Regis and will be taking part in Dorset Open Studios in May and June 2026. Work featured on her Instagram is available for sale.

In 2007, I made the inspiring move from Surrey to the picturesque village of Kilmington, East Devon with my two daughters. Art has always been my passion, but it was this relocation – surrounded by the breathtaking Jurassic coastline and ever-changing skies – that truly ignited my journey as a professional artist. I am largely self-taught, with over more than a decade of dedicated art tuition I have continued to refine and deepen my practice.
My artistic range is as diverse as it is expressive. From intricate pen and ink portraits to expansive abstract acrylic canvases, my work is often characterised by a serene, ethereal quality. I aim to evoke a sense of peace and tranquillity, offering a visual escape from the everyday. I’m particularly drawn to the harmonious relationship between sky and water, and the intense power held within those quiet moments.
Using a mix of acrylics, inks and watercolours, I often incorporate iridescent, metallic and textured mediums to create shifting light and depth that change with the viewer’s perspective. This dynamic quality means my work is best experienced in person.
My recent commissions include paintings of loved ones in peaceful settings that evoke cherished memories – something I take great pride and pleasure in, pouring my heart and soul into each piece.
Whether you’re looking for a unique gift or a painting to enhance your home, I carefully consider colour schemes, choosing hues that complement or contrast beautifully with your space.
